We embarked on a day trip, starting with a train ride and then a bus journey to Vianden. Vianden is a charming historic town featuring a medieval castle as its centerpiece. The recently restored castle is perched dramatically on the cliffs above the town. We enjoyed a self-paced tour and appreciated that it wasn't crowded at all, allowing us to explore at our leisure. As an added bonus, the chair lift to the castle was a cool experience, and it was free with our Luxembourg Cards!
