Young H. Chun, Ph.D.

Since the fall semester of 1992, I have taught various undergraduate and graduate courses in managerial statistics, operations research, business forecasting, data mining, and operations management at LSU. Nowadays I am only teaching graduate courses in the MBA and MS in Analytics (MSA) programs.

Dr. Chun in the classroomI had worked in the military for 5 years and in the corporate world for 2 years, but I found that teaching is by far the most challenging, intellectually stimulating, and rewarding career I've ever had. The most rewarding aspect of teaching is being in a classroom with a group of motivated and hardworking students, and seeing the light go on as I help them find their way through the "jungle". I always take my responsibility as a teacher as seriously as I take my research efforts.

Beyond the classroom, seeing my former students establish themselves professionally and personally is another rewarding part of my job as a professor. In fact, I have more than 1,000 former LSU students as my Facebook and LinkedIn friends, and have maintained close relationships with them. I've written numerous letters of recommendation for my students, and I've been invited to their weddings in many occasions!
